Michael Singer: Jai Masters, there’s so many things you can do with your mind and some of them pass as spiritual. The truth is, man mind is mind equals God. That’s the truth. So anything you’re doing with your mind, you have to be paying attention to your mind. Otherwise you wouldn’t know you were doing it. And when you’re paying attention to your mind, you’re not man. Minus mind equals God. Your consciousness focusing on mind equals man. So the a human is so that’s just the truth, but it’s not easy to just step out no more. It’s easier to stop a drug and the other habit, the consciousness, the self is habitually addicted to the mind and the heart, but we just talk about the mind right now. It pays attention to what the mind is saying. You’re not going to stop that. The addiction of the consciousness to the mind is so much stronger than anything you can imagine. In fact, if you want to think about the addiction, you’ll be thinking about the addiction.
That’s how addicted you are to the mind, right? So what do you do about it? The first step is to realize that you’re not it. You are not your mind. Your mind is a thing in the universe, just like a piano, a glass of water, a kleenex, a clock. It’s a thing in the universe. It exists. It’s called your mind, the mind. Everyone’s got one. So first you realize you’re not it. It’s something you’re aware of. That’s a very big step. That’s a giant step. Most people really, most people that ever walk the face of this earth do not know that they never stepped back at all. They are their mind. You see ’em. They fight for their mind. They fight for what they believe. They fight for what they think is right or wrong or good for them or whatever it is. Just the volume is dominant.
The mind is in complete control. We won’t talk about that right now. At some point, you wake up to realize that you are not your mind. You have a mind and that your mind talks and you’re aware of that, that sometimes what it says is so powerful, is so addicting and so on that you’re not aware that you’re lost in it. You don’t know what you’re doing. You’ll come back at some point hopefully, but in the meantime, you’re screaming, yelling, carrying on, ranting and raving. You’re not there. You’re not there behind the mind. You’re there being the mind. I hope you don’t do that anymore. If you want to grow spiritually, that’s not the end for most people. They think it would be the end that they would manage to stay centered. That’s just the beginning. That’s the beginning of you coming to work to do your work.
If you’re not there, you’re useless. What does it matter if you go to work, if you’re ranting and raving and running around, yelling at everything and freaking out, it better off. If you’re not there, you’re not doing any good at all. It’s the same thing inside. If you can’t maintain your center, if you can’t maintain your clarity, I’m not talking about most of the time talking about some of the time. I’m talking about every single moment of every single second. There is no time that you are lost in your mind. I’m sorry. I need to tell you to draw that line. It’s not easy. Most people don’t get there, but you’re not going anywhere spiritually if you’re in your mind because man’s mind equals God. So you don’t stand a chance. If you’re in your mind and lost in your mind, personal mind and your mind is telling you what to say and you’re not even there deciding whether to say it, it’s just coming out.
Your mind has taken over. Don’t do that anymore. Don’t do that anymore. It sort of like when you’re driving your car and then you lose consciousness and you’re just not thinking at all and you’re not paying attention. Don’t do that. That’s not a good thing to do that. That wouldn’t be a very good thing to do, not a good thing to not be in there, to not be centered, not be clear, to not be making the decisions. You’re in there, it’s your being. So you’ll wake up to the point where at least you’re there. At least you’re conscious you can do it. Don’t say you can’t do it. Of course you can do it. You’re in there. You’re not in there. You just decided that this is important enough to lose it over. Nothing is important enough to lose it over nothing ever again for the rest of your life, no matter what it is, because what you’re losing is yourself and you don’t lose yourself to the mind.
So you wake up to the point, and we’re going to talk about this from that point on that you are in there and you realize there is this mind in there talking. It says lots of different things. Have you noticed That’s very important to notice. It says lots of different things. It says different things around your parents. It says different things around your boyfriend or girlfriend. It says different things when you’re feeling well. It says different things when you’re not feeling well. I mean it just says different things all the time, doesn’t it? It just says different things. Fine. That’s what a mind is. A mind is a thing that says different things. Big deal. When you turn on the radio, it plays different things, right? If you play any of these Spotifys or these things, they just leave ’em alone. They play different things.
That’s what happens. So your mind says different things. Is that okay with you? Is it okay with you when you’re turn on the radio that there’s something on it better be or you’re not going to be? Okay? That’s your starting position is I have a mind and it says different things at different times. I’m asking you, are you okay with that? That’s different than I’m going to kill it. Then I’m going to change it. I’m going to strip it away and I’m going to drug it so that I can have a nice experience. So basically that’s your starting place. There’s two starting places so far with stepping stones. One is you realize that you are noticing your mind, okay, there. Well, that’s a great awakening. God, this thing’s talking and it says things and it’s hard not to listen to good. I’m glad. Okay, now that you notice you have a mind, can you notice that it talks?
Can you notice? It says many different things under many different situations. If you’re wise, your first, I want you to walk this path fast, rocket ship level, you don’t mess around with it. You just say, oh, my job is not to change it, not to figure it out, not to be mad at it, not to think this part’s spiritually, this part’s not. My job is can I sit in here and be okay with whatever it says? Some people play golf. You play this. It’s a game. It’s a game. Can I sit in here and whatever the mind says is just something the mind said, can I be okay with whatever the mindset said? That’s deep spirituality. That’s way deeper than making sure it says nice things and it doesn’t swear it’s way deeper than what it says. Can you be okay with what it says there it is judging there it is complaining.
There it is needing things. There it is rationalizing. There it is doing its mind thing. It does these things. Is that okay with you or do you have to do something about the fact that it did that? That’s the litmus test. Not what it says, but can you be okay with what it says? Because it’s going to say lots of things. It’s not like tomorrow. It’s not going to stop saying some stuff. It’s going to say lots of things for quite a while. I tell you, it’s the same thing with aa. It just basically you come down and you realize you’re going to feel the urge. I hope they teach you that in aa. Hello? Just because you came here, you’re not going to not feel the urge. Just because you’re inspired by people that have managed to give it up, that doesn’t mean tomorrow you’re not going to go out there and feel the urge.
So this high you feel right now, this inspiration, this guidance, it’s now. Because that’s what the mind is saying. Tomorrow’s not going to say that. Tomorrow’s saying, I don’t think this is me. I can’t do this. I’ll never be able to do this. Why should I even try? That’s what it’s going to say, isn’t it? You have to be okay that it said that. You’re not going to stop it from saying that for a while. Quite a while. You have to be willing to realize you have a mind and it says things. Your job is to find a way to be okay that it said it. What does it mean to be okay? I used talk about being able to handle that. What does handling it mean? How do you measure? I can handle it. You don’t have to do anything about it. There’s lots and lots of things that happen to you every single day.
You don’t have to do a single thing about ’em. The rain fell. I hope you didn’t have bothered by it. The wind blows, the leaf fell off. Car beeped at you. There’s so many things, you hear me? Can you handle them? Handle them means I don’t have to do anything about it. Why? I don’t I have to do anything about it? I can handle it. It’s when you can’t handle it, so don’t think it’s, I don’t want any righteous anger. There’s no such thing and justified behavior. No. If you can’t handle your mind, that’s what’s going to come out here. It’s not justifiable. It is never justifiable. That doesn’t mean that the behavior looks different. Let’s not play that game. You can handle it perfectly and be there handling it and yet the right behavior may look the same as somebody who’s doing something else, but it’s not because it’s not your mind expressing itself.
It’s you from a center point of view trying to see what is the best thing that I can do in this situation. It may be you need to yell at the kid for what he did or she did. It may be the absolute appropriate thing to do, but that’s not the same as you losing it and yelling at the kid. So you’re in there. You’re always in there and your primary job is, I can handle whatever my mind does. Doesn’t let me cry. I just sit there. There’s your spiritual path. I don’t care if you meditate. I don’t care if you do mantra. I don’t care if you believe in God. I don’t care of anything. What I care about is can you handle what your mind says? If you can’t handle what your mind says, don’t talk to me about God. You won’t be talking about God.
You’ll be talking about yourself. You talking about your mind right now. How do you go about learning to handle whatever your mind says? There are lots of different ways. One way which I have found always very useful and so do a lot of other people, is to permit your analytical mind, your intellectual mind, not your personal mind, your analysis mind to be able to look at your personal mind and see why it’s saying what it’s saying. Not get into it, not therapy just, oh, there’s my father talking. There’s my mother talking. There’s that first boyfriend. There’s my ex. He talks a lot. Okay? It’s just like there are reasons that the mind says what it says aren’t there? They’re not random, nothing. The mind says is random, nothing. Like nothing. Universe is random, so all the result of everything that happened before, that’s why it happens.
Cause and effect, so there are reasons that your mind says what it says. You don’t get into that sort of clarity or conscious or awareness or analysis, whatever you want to call it. You don’t do that in order to blame, in order to figure it all out so you can make it go away. Just somehow here, if somebody comes on your front porch and is banging hard on the door and you don’t know them, but you realize they’re bleeding and they got something happened and they broke their ankle and they’re knocking the, that makes it a lot easier to handle the knocking, doesn’t it? You just have a basic idea. Why did it say this? Why is it judging that person? Because when I was little, somebody judged me on the same thing and it hurt me and now it’s coming back. Do you understand that?
You don’t analyze it for the purpose of getting into it. People often ask that with your emotions, should I get into them? You should neither suppress them nor express them. You should be aware of them. This is the same thing. I am aware that the reason he said that is because his father did this. His mother did this or just two minutes ago somebody yelled at me, so now it’s saying this, you’re aware. You’re aware. I’m not feeling well. I didn’t sleep well last night, so I’m edgy. Therefore, it’s saying that that’s why you look at it just to take the edge off. Just to realize it’s almost like if that guy’s beating on the door and he’s got a broken angle that puts him in his place, I know where to deal with him. It’s not some freaky situation. It’s the same thing inside of you.
Mind sit there and says, I don’t like her anymore. I don’t know what I should be doing this, right? Because somebody said something that upsets you last night and now you wake up and your mind’s saying that ever happened. Of course it’s happened eventually. How you deal with your mind, been there, done that. If you come, I call a veteran of the foreign wars. Been there, done that. That’s all I’m saying. Just take it loose. You’re not analyzing it to get to the bottom of it and see whether it’s right or wrong or what do you need to do about it. Now that’s way too close. Do you do that? You’re going to get lost in it. You just stay back here and notice there’s a reason. Sometimes, in fact, you get to a point where that’s all you have to do. There’s a reason somebody’s beating on the door.
Okay, let’s find out not ah, why somebody beat on the door, right? You just say there’s a reason it said it. I don’t care what it is. There’s a reason the mindset would’ve said, that’s good enough for me. It’s not good enough For some people, they have to know everything immediately. They can’t handle the unknown. Get to know the unknown because your mind, you don’t need that full analysis. You just look at it and eventually say, yeah, there’s a reason it said that. Who cares? There’s a reason I’m all right. All of this is only for the purpose of being able to handle what it said. Okay, fine. It had a reason. It said it. It’s not a reasonable reason. Why is it not a reasonable reason? Who said that? What the mind had to say, personal mind. The noise. That is not a reasonable reason.
It’s a leftover samskara. I’ve taught you this. It’s an impression that got left on the mind from your past that is now releasing because something hid it, something stimulated it. It is always that. It is always that your mind is programmed from the past. If you’re using a computer, everything it does is because of the program that was put in it. That’s what it does. It doesn’t know how to do anything else. Your mind is the same. Your mind that is not reacting due to the past impressions is not reacting. Can we repeat that? Your mind that is not reacting based on past impressions is not reacting. It’s quiet. It has nothing to say. It’s fine. It’s just there. Being here now experiencing what’s happening, but it hits your stuff. It hits past experiences and it causes the mind to react and to say things.
Those things are meaningless. Those are not about now, those are about what happened to you in the past. If five people are standing to look at the same thing, all five will have different reactions because they all had different pasts. This mother said this and the father said this and this snake did this and this brother did that, and it’s going to make it act different in there. So you start to look at it and say, well, mine is not even worth listening to. It’s not worth listening to. My past is meaningless. Now you start to work your way out of yourself. This is how you naturally work your way out of your mind. You become comfortable realizing why it does what it does. First you realize why it does what it does, and then you start to look at it and say, well, why would I want to listen to that?
My father yelled at me about this situation 15 years ago and now something happened that reminded me of the situation. Why do I want to listen to that? Of what meaning is that? And so you start to just naturally, I want you to naturally look at it and see the absurdity of listening to the mind, not the absurdity of the mind. The mind is just like if you throw a leaf in the water, there’s ripples. You leave an impression in the mind. It talks, it says things. It comes up with opinions and preferences and hopes and dreams and concepts and views and all that. That’s what it does. It gets programmed. The question is can you sit behind it and handle anything it says and once you can handle anything, it says, can you look at the meaninglessness? If everything it says is based on your past experiences and it is psychology says, man is the sum of his learned experiences.
They study the mind, but they’re right. The mind is the sum of your learned experiences. Now, what psychology doesn’t tell you but spirituality does is okay, let’s get quiet for a moment. Let’s agree. Your mind is the sum of your learned experiences. Do you know what that means? It’s nothing. That’s the difference. The sum of your learned experiences is so nothing that it’s not even worth talking about, but we don’t feel that, do we? Because now comes in the next aspect of mind ego, because you have identified with what the mind is saying. You built a you and that’s the most important thing in your universe. If that you in there is not happy you leave your spouse that you in there is the most important thing in your life, and if you’re not a person that would do that, you say, how could they do that?
That’s terrible. Well, you’ll do something else that they would never do. You have this concept of self, which is built your mind made out of your mind and we call it the ego, and what basically happens is you think that you are, I know it’s embarrassing, but get it straight. You think that you are the center of the universe. Well, the truth is you’re not the center of the universe. The is no center. It’s infinite. It goes on everywhere, and if there were one, it would be GOD. But no, you are the center of the universe. So now when you look at what your mind says, which is the sum of your learned experiences, you actually think that’s important. Now you know when I give you talks, which I can surprise you, come back. I am here to convince you it is the least important thing in the universe what your past experiences are.
If you had looked to the left, you’d have a different experience. If you look to the right, you have a different experience through time and space. There’s infinite time and infinite space. You’re at any moment. It’s Einstein’s space time continuum. You understand that you don’t have to be Einstein right now. This is a point in time and space. If you came here five minutes ago, it didn’t look like this. If you went over there, it doesn’t look like this. So there is a specific unique point in time and space and how many are there, how many points in time and space there will there be in time and space? It’s incomprehensible first of all because at any moment it goes on everywhere and it goes on between. The moments always has. You are experiencing one of those right now. You’re experiencing one moment in time and space.
There are 700 billion quill, zillion trillion of them, and you’re experiencing one and you want to say that’s important. It’s not important. Every moment in time and space is of equal importance. They’re all exactly the same. How do I prove it? I’ll take you out of this one and put you in that one. You’ll say, that’s the most important. Something’s fishy here. It wasn’t the most important until I put you there. Everybody paying attention, okay? I want you to see what ego looks like. It’s unbelievable, but you are taking this one moment and then the next moment, the next moment, the next moment, just nothing. You’re nothing. They’re all nothing. Please listen. They are nothing. They have no value. They have no meaning. They’re there for a moment, then they’re gone that time and space, they’ll never come back again. Big deal. You experienced that one and everybody else experienced something but not really.
Most of ’em not being experienced by anybody of God. Think about it. And so basically this is when you wake up, this is what it means to go beyond yourself, to die, to be reborn is you look at your mind and you realize of all the things the mind is saying, of all the things mind is doing, of all the reaction it’s having, they’re all based on the same thing. That these are the moments I experience. Therefore they matter. Therefore, they’re important, therefore they mean something. You said that to me five years ago when we were standing in the plaza. Oh my God, how can you still be there? That’s the most meaningless thing in the universe, isn’t it? It’s not even happening anymore and it didn’t happen anyways. It’s just a little moment of that’s how you have to look at it. I have a problem.
I have reality on my side. The Bible says in you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. You’re hearing it. This is the truth, isn’t it? And so you sit there and you realize that’s what you’ve done. You’ve taken these minuscule meaningless moments and woven a life out of them and said, that’s who I am. I’m the one that this happened to. I’m the one that you said that mean thing in the plaza five years ago. I’m the one who’s somebody thinks is cute. I’m the one that blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, and you used define yourself as these little moments. Okay? That’s our next step. First, you have to see you’re not your mind. Then you have to see your mind always has something to say different things at different times. It says things. Then you have to realize that you’re capable of sitting in there and not reacting to what the mind says.
Then you can see clearly why is the mind saying what it’s saying, and you’ll get sick to your stomach first. You’ll get sick to your stomach and then it will be meaningless. You’re still reacting to that. Go to a high school reunion and tell me what this looks like when you see people you haven’t seen for 10, 20 years. All this stuff’s going to come back up. All the things, the little stupid little moments that you had with these people, it’s hilarious and you’ve made yourself out of that and your heart will react and your mind will react. At what point will you look at that and say, what am I doing? What am I doing? Why would I do that? Why would I do it? And eventually you get to the point where you realize I’m not, it’s not a meaningful thing and I’m not going to listen to it because it’s not a meaningful thing. That’s why you’re not analyzing it. You’re noticing the absurdity of listening to your mind. That’s where you get. You eventually will get to that point. Do you have one? Yes. Do you listen to it? No. Why? Because I see where it came from. It’s meaningless. I used to give you the example. We’re going to have an election and somebody comes back and says, ah, he did a poll. I know who’s going to get elected. I’ve got it all down. Who’s going to get elected? Joe Schmo. How do you know? I asked Sally.
Excuse me, asked every Sally, no, no, no, no. Asked one Sally the one over there, and that’s who’s going to get elected. That’s what you’re doing with your mind. It is that absurd to listen to what your mind says. It’s opinions and preferences, hopes it’s dreams, it’s concepts of views. They’re just leftover garbage from the moment. The tiny mind. Would you please, I know you are not all as analytical, but can you see how small that moment in time and space is? It’s just a dot. It’s nothing. I mean, it’s not even close. Take your whole really high definition. 3,550 by 2,870 resolution screen and a big one and take one pixel and just take one pixel at a time and pull it out. Drop it somewhere and tell me that’s reality. That’s all this is. That moment in time in space, it’s the most meaningless thing.
Nothing has ever happened to you that has any meaning. Nothing has ever happened to you or ever will that has any meaning. It’s just a moment in time in space. You could have seen a different one and you’re going to let that determine your life. Now you’re ready for how you wake up eventually. If you will think like this, if you’ll work with this, if you’ll contemplate truth, you’ll lose your attachment to the mind. You’ll understand this is not something I need to be listening to, which any of it, not the intellectual mind, not the analytical, that’s fine. That’s what mine is for. It’s a gift was given to you. It was a computer. It’s what you did with it. It’s this personal stuff. It told you your opinions, your views, your concepts, your likes, your dislikes, your preferences. Those are all just personal garbage that you collected in your mind based on the time and space moments that you happen to experience, which are meaningless.
That’s where you need to get Dr. Shore said and ignored guests quickly leaves. When do you ignore ’em? If you’re not interested, if you’re interested, you try to throw ’em out. I don’t want you here or you keep ’em here. Please stay if you have nothing to do with them. If you are neutral, you just look at it. There’s a mind talking. It’s made up of these little moments. How can I do you even get when I try so hard to get across to you, how meaningless those moments are that you wove into your life? Let it go. You’re not going to get out by playing around with the mind shifting it, this, that, whatever you want to do. You can work with some of that if it helps you, but ultimately you need to be sitting in here and seeing. I don’t listen to the mind because it doesn’t know what it’s talking about.
Nobody’s does. It’s just that. So what do you listen to? Ah, there’s the robe. You don’t understand. You who’s in there noticing this minuscule meaningless mind is omniscient, is omnipotent, is omnipresent. That is God watching your mind. It knows everything. It is in complete harmony. It is the creator of the universe watching the mind. Now, you’re not going to step back into that all at once, but that’s what’s back there. That’s what’s back there. That’s why I’m bad because in the new books and stuff like that, and of course I talk about dreams as Freudian type dreams. The only ones I talk about that they’re leftover stuff in your subconscious. Well, that’s not really true. There are unique, but there are other types of dreams. There are psychic dreams, there are intuitive dreams. There are inspired dreams. What does that mean? What’s back there is God.
God is what’s looking out through your eyes. God is what’s watching your mind. God is what’s experiencing your heart. God is what’s watching your dreams right now. There’s so much stuff in between the consciousness and what you’re experiencing that the self is addicted to the mind. Even when you go to sleep, the mind is clearing out the subconscious and your dreams are happening. So most interpretive of dreams are Freudian type stuff that this is garbage that you suppressed and it’s coming up during your dreams and either directly seeing it or it’s being codified. It’s being symbolized, but there are dreams that are predictory. There are dreams that are oracle. There are dreams that are Sears that basically they come from behind. They leak in that somehow there’s an openness enough and they leak in from the divine. They leak in from the omniscience, they leak in from the deeper place and then they present themselves in the dream and you can tell the difference.
They’re very lucid and they’re totally different. I don’t like to talk about it because people want to make something out of that. They want to make stuff out of a spiritual experience. Why? Here in my early days, back when I was still in college, we used to get out and see Eloise. Eloise was from Casa Dega and she was the president of Casa Dega and she was probably the most psychic people you’d ever meet in your life. She was a true medium and was known worldwide and was on 60 minutes, and not that that makes her great, but she was okay. That was just who she was. Very simple lady and she used to do readings and people would come from all over the world and everything. That was what she did, and I was very close with her. I’d spend time at her house and this, that and the other thing.
I never had a reading, never wanted to have a reading, and we once talked about it and she said, you don’t need to have readings because you’re willing to accept what unfolds without knowing anything about it. That was my whole path surrender. She said, well, people can’t do that. They want to know. They need to know. They need to open packages right away. They need to do everything, everything immediately, right? They need to know what’s going on. They want control. So basically I’m that way about these psychic dreams and about all this kind of stuff. Why do you want to know what’s coming? All it’s going to do is make you freaky. So that’s why I don’t talk about those kind of dreams, but they are real. It is absolutely true that there can be openness in the subconscious. You get a little bit behind the subconscious and that something can leak in from the omniscience, from the divine, from the high state or even from a master passing something down.
You don’t need to know anything about it. It’s going to happen anyways. You don’t need to know if you’re open and you’re clean, you’re going to do what the master guides you to do. You don’t need to know what ahead of time, you don’t know what your mission is, so it’s higher to keep letting go, but the point is there is behind wisdom, great wisdom. So when you stop listening to your mind, you become receptive to a deeper wisdom, to a deeper flow. There’s a kosha. It’s one of the higher koshas back there. There’s Aya kosha and the thing is Y may kosha and then Anaya Kosha, but talked about kosha being the body of ecstasy, the pure ecstasy. Well, below that is Aya. Kosha is the body of wisdom. That’s what he called it, and then manaya kosha, which is your personal mind, which is the mind that you’re used to listening to.
So the key is while you’re listening to your personal mind, which is made up of this, nothing while you do it, I have no idea because all it does is cause trouble for you and everybody else while you’re listening to that, you can’t hear the other. Is it there? Yes, it is there, but what difference does it make if you’re making so much noise? I don’t hear the crickets. They might well not be there and your mind is making enough noise to where you don’t hear squat, so don’t be afraid to let go of your mind. People said, well, I’ll listen to, it’s all I have. That’s what they say. It’s all I have. Yes, I see it’s just made up of these tiny little moments and I missed everything else, so it can’t be so wise, but it’s all I have. It is not all you have period.
It is not all you have. In fact, it’s nothing and it’s interfering with your ability to touch what you have, which is your greatness. So you have to be willing to let go. Not beat it up, not suppress it, not be mad at it, not feel guilty because of it. No, no, no, no shame, no blame, nothing. Just there it is. It was made up of the moments. The tiny minuscule I like moments sounds too big of that little pixel. How would we call it a pixel? That’s what it is, isn’t it? It’s a pixel in time and space except the resolution is so many pixels per inch that’s incomprehensible and it goes on everywhere. So that’s how I want you to think of the moment. You just experienced the pixel off the screen of life, so it’s nothing. Why don’t I listen to that?
I don’t. It’s all I have. No, it’s not. That’s the purpose of this talk. It is not all you have you the self who is aware of the mind is so much greater than the mind. That’s ridiculous. The mind is made up of these pixels. The self is God. The self is what’s made in the image of God. You can come back there, but not while you’re busy with the pixels, not while you’re busy playing around with your stuff. So again, you come back to can you handle what the mind has to say? If you can’t handle it, we’re wasting our time talking. You’re going to jump in and try to do something about it. It hurt me what you said. I can’t believe you said that to me and when I think about it, it’s worse Now. I’m really upset. You’ve said me before, my father, whoa, whoa.
You should see what you look like, right? What are you doing? What are you doing? There’s no reason to talk to you. There’s no reason to have anything to do with you. That’s crazy. You need to be able to maintain a complete center no matter what your mind is saying, and the way you do that is never step in the direction of your mind, never step in the direction of your mind. Fall back. I teach you that. I say, get the witness, then lean away. That’s not even enough to sit there. Lean away from the direction of your mind. If it’s pulling on you, lean away from where it pulls. There’s nothing it can say that you want to listen to. It’s all just made up of those stupid pixels. You don’t want to listen to it. It’s not going to take you anywhere you want to go.
It’s going to take you away from where you want to go. There’s no reason in the world to ever. There’s no excuse for it either. Don’t give yourself an excuse. Don’t give yourself the right, and so basically you get comfortable that this is just the pixels talking. I like that, that we painted that. It’s just the sum of the pixels talking and the pixels don’t have very much sum. Your pixels add up to 0.01 to the minus 6 billion and there are 700 billion trillion to the 700 billion trillion. That’s the ratio of your pixels to what’s going on, alright? You look at it and say, I ain’t going there anymore. Good. How? You need to be able to handle what it says. It’s going to say things. Some people have trouble with anger and trouble with these things. The way you deal with it is not once you’re in it, they’re not expecting somebody to convince you once you’re in it that you should let go, but that ain’t going to happen.
What you do is the moment you feel the pull, the moment you feel the pull, you lean away. I mean, it’s like letting go of that tug of war rope I talked to you about. Don’t even bother. You don’t want to go there, you let go, let go. I’m letting go. That’s the power of letting go. Now you’re back there and you see it’s saying things, but deep inside what it’s saying is meaningless. It is always meaningless and I don’t want to go there. Okay, good. Don’t fight with it, just lean away. And what you’re doing is you’re leaning away from the pole of your lower self, but you’re also leaning into the wisdom of your higher self. That’s the beauty of leaning. You can’t lean one way, that you’re not leaning into something and away from something can you. They go directly together, lean away from the personal, and you are leaning into the impersonal and you will start to feel the Shakti back there.
You’ll start to feel the power and you realize, oh my God, that’s where all the beauty was coming from. That’s where love comes from. Love is a flow of energy. It’s a flow of energy. It’s not a person, a place or a thing, and it comes from back here from God. That’s where the energy comes from. And so if you’re leaning into the personal, you’re not going to feel it or you’ll only feel it if the personal likes what’s happening. I’ve discussed that with you many times. Of course you’ll feel love if the person dresses the way you want, acts the way you want, treats you the way you want, says what you just wanted. What if the person says every single thing you want all the time and does everything right and everything’s there and you’re completely there and you feel nothing but love and they say one thing at the wrong time, in the wrong tone in the wrong place.
What do I want to bet you out of there? Isn’t that amazing? You need to learn that what your life is about. Not this moment, not this relationship is about handling whatever that mind says, realizing I don’t care what it says, I don’t care. Good it sounds I’m leaning away from the personal, not math and intellectual analysis. You can use your mind, of course, you use your mind for reason and logic, but not reason and logic to get what you want. That’s not what you use it for or avoid what you don’t want. You lean away. If you will lean away over time you’ll find that it’s easier and you’ll find not always easier. You can’t even believe that you used to go into that. You can’t even believe you used to listen to that. That’s unbelievable. Remember, I remember back in the seventies, he gave a talk and he said, you’ll get to the point where you feel like you’re standing on a bridge, looking down at a river flowing underneath, and sometimes the river gets tumultuous and every once in a while some spray makes it up to where you’re standing.
And all it does is remind you. I used to be in that. That’s where I used to live inside of that mess. That’s what it gets like. And you would never go back down there. So now you’re up above and not only is it easier to stay out of it because you see the absurdity of it, but you start to feel this power coming in from behind you, not in front. These are very hard words for you guys. I hear that. You don’t realize you’re looking in front of you all the time. If there’s something on TV that’s really fascinating, you’re looking in front of you. You don’t realize there’s a behind you, you don’t have that position because your whole consciousness is going forward. There’s a behind you, a real big behind you. You are really big behind there like infinite. And so you lean back and you start to feel the Shakti, the real power coming in from behind.
It has nothing to do with the front. It just sometimes leaked through the front because everything was the way, the personal mind life. That’s called conditional love, conditional wellbeing, no interest. And so you lean back and the Shakti starts to pull you in and that becomes your spiritual path. So we’re talking about your relationship with your mind. This is how you deal with your mind. Eventually, you will not be dealing with your mind. You’ll be dealing with the Shakti. She replaces your relationship with the mind. You used to sit there and look at the mind. It seems interesting you had to do things. Now she pulls you back inside and all you want to do is feel her beauty. That’s all you ever wanted. And then believe it or not, that’s the start of your spiritual path, not the end. You’re still individual. You’re still experiencing yourself as existing and experiencing the Shakti, the great said, the drop of his conscious of fell into the ocean.
So that thing that’s experiencing the Shakti has to go too. The sense of individuality, the sense of individual self eventually lets go of itself, really, it doesn’t let go of itself. The Shakti becomes strong enough to pull you back into her. God pulls you up. You don’t go to God. You let go of yourself. God pulls you up. And then basically that’s what the great ones talk about, the merger when they cease to be an individual. So even the thing that’s back there, experiencing the Shakti, liking that so much is still individual self is the difference between the Atman and Atman. And so basically this is your path. It has a lot to do with your mind, but it has nothing to do with your mind. You understand that it has a lot to do with your mind because you are very addicted to your mind, but you just have to realize and get to the point where you’re capable of letting go where you’re capable of being comfortable with anything.
The mind says, just the moment he reacts, lean away. That’s the biggest thing I could ever teach you. You want to transcend your mind. Don’t get involved. But isn’t there? No, there isn’t. Aren’t there exceptions? No. There are no exceptions. Doesn’t matter if you’re at work, doesn’t matter if you’re in a relationship, doesn’t matter if you’re eating. Doesn’t matter whether you like something, doesn’t matter. If you don’t like something. It’s not like you’re sitting there all tense. You’re just letting go of the reactions of your mind. Every single time. Every single time. You’re just letting go. You’re sitting in there letting go. Can you do that? No. Now you can’t. But that’s why I showed you some of the techniques and one of ’em that’s very powerful is right, understanding the Buddhists. Talk about that. You just understand that what the mind is saying is not anything that’s worth listening to.
It feels like it thinks it does. I can say it right now. Don’t think that you have to convince your mind not to listen. Then you’ll not listen. People do that. It’s not a matter of convincing your mind that it’s wrong. You’re in your mind. You’re playing the sport at the wrong level. You have to be willing to say, I don’t care. I don’t care. They’re just pixels talking and you’d be willing to lean away. Are you willing to do that? I love that you come here. Are you willing to do that? I can see people that crossed over it moves me very deeply that have decided, yeah, I’m going to do that. Doesn’t mean they’re perfect at it, but that’s what I’m going to do. I’m getting old, getting older. I want to experience, I don’t want to just talk about it better. Look all your mind, you hurt me. It ain’t going to happen. Ative.
